Dear Councillors Update on Critical Beds Campaign visit to Downing Street on 12th July “ There were insufficient critical care beds available for the population served by the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust in comparison with other London trusts. Capacity was high at an average of 95%. It was estimated that critical care bed shortages affected 100 to 200 patients across the trust each month, with patients experiencing cancellations of planned procedures and significant waits in A&E (or in the recovery unit) while waiting for ITU beds.” The quote above is from the CQC of 2nd   July 2015 about King George.  A longer report from the CQC about Queens is below. There were insufficient critical care beds available for the population served by the trust in comparison with other London Trusts. Despite four additional beds being made available, capacity has remained high at an average o

Brilliant that Keith Prince comes on board for more critical care beds at King George & Queens at 12th July visit to Downing Street

Delighted to report that Keith Prince, Havering and GLA representative will be going to 10 Downing Street on 12th July. Another big step for campaign, now need another 4 Councillors or a GLA representative to come on board. I must write to Barking and Dagenham Councillors tomorrow. Must stress that Keith & Nic will be focussing on the need for more critical care beds at King George & Queens. I will not be writing or saying anything to give the view that anyone of the elected representatives attending on the 12th July will be against allowing housing on the King George Site. It will be about putting aside our differences and uniting around an aim for more critical care beds at King George & Queens.

Great News: Havering Councillor Nic Dodin will be going to 10 Downing Street on 12th July

Delighted to report that Havering Councillor Nic Dodin will going to 10 Downing Street on 12th July. Big step for campaign, now need another 5 Councillors across three boroughs to come on board too. Email to Councillors setting out why BHRUT is using misleading 4 hour A&E statistics

I wrote to the below to Councillors yesterday, as yet no reply from BHRUT, I will put up anything they send. Dear Councillors I present a petition on Thursday about the need to extend King George rather than allow housing on the site, I write today about what I minded to say on Thursday about governance issues at BHRUT and why the plan to review the KGH A&E closure appears a sham. The BBC A&E tracker today shows BHRUT 112 out of 133 trusts for A&E performance at May 2018 (1) The review needs to be published by this September 2018 to lobby central government for more beds, doctors and nurses at King George & Queens. I will seek the petition be referred to Health Scrutiny per an earlier petition of mine which led to a working party chaired by Wes Streeting (2). The working party made some excellent recommendations, as yet no other councils have not adopted them. This needs to change.  I copy in BHRUT to give them an opportunity to comment before Thursday.
